Bilikal Rangaswamy Betta
The name Bilikal Rangaswamy is also known as Bilikal Betta, which means white rocks. It is standing at an elevation of 3780 feet above the sea level and is one of the most notable and joyful spots to visit near Bangalore. The people who head towards the Karnataka Trip all must visit this spot. On the elevated mark of the Bilikal Betta trek there is a temple of Lord Rangaswamy under the white toned stone. Shivaganga Hill
Shivaganga hills are located at an elevation of 2640 feet above sea level. It’s a hindu pilgrimage center for all the devotees of Lord Shiva. It is located at a distance of 50 Kms from Bangalore near NH4 heading towards Tumkur. There are two famous temples namely Shivaganga Temple and one more at top of the incline, called Gavi Gangadhareshwara Temple. The distinctive feature of this hill is that the top of the hill looks different from all four directions. For example, it looks like a bull from the East, a Ganesha from the West, a Linga from the South and a cobra from the North. The specially raised area of Gavi Gangadhareshwara Cave is organized and also to be visited. The place is named Shivaganga because the mountain is having the shape of Shivling and the melodious spring flowing beside the mountain is River Ganga and since the point is a blend of these two beautiful God and Goddess it is named Shivagange.
Makalidurga
Makalidurga is an interesting outing named after the two sources, at first, Makalidurga is named after a woody climber called “Makali Beru” or Makali Root, the juice of which is used to serve as a prosperity drink. The Trek has a Railway Station as its base and is different from all other day ventures around Bangalore. The Makali Root Juice is rich in elements which it has and the most important benefit it serves in disinfecting the blood. Makalidurga got its name from the Ruler or even known as Palegar named Makaliarya in the last pieces of the 1800’s. Makalidurga has been owned by many rulers namely the heads of the
Vijayanagara Empire, after which the Nayakas controlled, then Shahaji Bhosle, the father of Chhatrapati Shivaji, who was also regulating the Doddaballapur region during the 1600’s. The famous Markandeya Rishi also performed atonement here.
How to reach Makalidurga ?
Makalidurga is around 60 kilometers from Bangalore, and just 15 kilometers from Doddaballapur and is successfully opened by road and rail lines. You can reach there either by road, rail or Airways. Devanahalli Bangalore airport is the nearest airport from the place at a distance of 46 km. From the airport either you can book a can or drive through taxi to Doddaballapur or to Makalidurga hill.
Two trains are also available namely – Bengaluru Cantt. – Vijayawada Passenger and KSR Bengaluru – Hindupur MEMU Bangalore, from where you can reach the Makalidurga Hill.
