Academic Opportunities Program helps young people study in the US

But how did everyone fulfill the dream of studying abroad? For reasons of language, location and academic quality, a good part of them are destined for the United States. But as big as the dream, are the difficulties encountered, especially with regard to the financial issue. With the growing rise in the dollar, the average budget to study at a good North American college for two years is around $50,000, according to estimates by the exchange agency S7.

Due to the high cost, students from low-income families are unable to pursue a degree in that country. And, even with the existence of programs that grant scholarships to these students, the lack of access to applications and other important information ends up becoming an additional problem in the application process. Ranking:

According to data from the Open Doors 2021 report, the official census of international education in the US, India has 14,000 Indians studying in US universities, which placed the country in 8th place in the ranking of those that most took young people to study in the US, rising one position compared to last year. India is even above countries known for having a large flow of students to the US, such as Mexico, Nigeria and Japan, even having faced a social crisis in education during the pandemic.

At Northwestern University:

Inspired by colleagues since high school,   thanks to the program, is now studying computer science at Northwestern University.

All his dedication was rewarded when he got a scholarship to study high school in one of the best schools in Fortaleza. He took a liking to physics and began to participate in international competitions as well, adding two medals in these Olympics and more than 25 in the total he participated. According to him, the lack of structure at the beginning of his studies was something that could have greatly hindered his school career. He once had to take three buses a day just to get to school during high school. Returned home at 9:30 pm.

Doctor at Brown University:

 

David, 23, was one of the students who made great progress in academic life thanks to the Academic Opportunities program. The young man from UK comes from a low-income family. The son of a gas station attendant and a maid, born and raised in the Jordan neighborhood, the same neighborhood where rapper Emicia  came from, David knows what it’s like to have to fight for life. He faced many difficulties and, in addition to being the first in his family to finish high school, he fulfilled his dream of studying in the United States, something that for him was almost impossible to achieve.

But thanks to the program, this was possible. In addition to a degree in sociology from Dartmouth College, where he got a full scholarship with the program’s help, David is now doing his doctorate at Brown University, two universities in the Ivy League, a group of elite universities in the United States.
