How to install a faucet? Tips You Know

plumber

Whether you’re thinking about renovating your bathroom or kitchen, or you’re just looking to replace a dripping faucet, knowing how to install a new faucet can save you money. If you’ve decided not to hire a plumber or want to learn new things, follow the steps below.

1 – Get the right materials:

Special plumber tools won’t be needed, just some basic tools you already have at home. Get a small bucket to catch any water in the drain and a piece of plastic to line the base of the sink in case you spill water. Choose a faucet from the hardware store and follow the manufacturer’s instructions. A pipe wrench is useful in this case, but a regular wrench or pliers will also work. You may also need silicone for sealing, or adhesive putty, and thread sealing tape.

2 – Turn off the water:

The valves are located at the bottom of the sink. They are usually oval in shape and are located below the water pipe. Turn clockwise to turn off the water. If they are too hard they may need to be replaced as well.

Check the condition of the hoses for any leaks or wear. Maybe it’s good to take the moment to change them.

Most new faucets come complete, some even have hoses for connection. Check with the seller to see if yours is.

3 – Disconnect the hoses.

Disconnect the water hoses using the wrench. There should be two: one for hot water and one for cold.

4 – Remove the mounting nuts:

Then remove the mounting nuts from the base of the old faucet. They are usually under the sink, right in the faucet fitting. They should have 1 to 3 nuts, which look more like a target or a clock. For Plumbing Services Contact here

5 – Clean the place:

Remove all the old putty around the sink holes. It’s easier if you use a spatula. Clean the area and dry.

6 – Prepare for the new faucet:

Wrap thread sealing tape around the faucet thread where the hoses will connect. Apply the silicone around the sink hole and where the new finish will go.

7 – Fit the faucet:

Press the faucet into the sink hole. Align the faucet using the wall or back of the sink to keep it straight.

After that, remove any excess silicone. Make sure the inside of the sink cabinet is dry.

8 – Secure in place:

Hand-tighten the mounting rings with the thicker side up. Use pliers when necessary to prevent leaks, but do not over tighten.

It’s a good idea to follow the manufacturer’s instructions when assembling your new faucet, because where and how these rings need to be placed varies by faucet model.

9 – Reconnect the water hoses with the key:

Thread sealing tape may be necessary in this case as well. See if there is any indication of “hot” and “cold” to connect to the right points on the faucet.

10 – Test your connections:

Turn on the hot water slowly and check for leaks. If you see any drops falling, turn off the valves and tighten them some more. Repeat as needed. When everything is working as it should, you’re done.  Tips to Fix the Leak Faucet
