What to see and what to do:
And here we are, you are about to discover what is truly unmissable in San Diego.
Did I manage to create the right suspense? Hhhh I hope so!
In San Diego I need to do 3 things: stroll along the waterfront, visit the Coronado Peninsula and take a trip to Balboa Park.
And, if you are lucky enough to spend even one night in San Diego, things become 4.
What is the fourth? Spend an evening in the coolest neighborhood in town.
I was staying there (at the Hard Rock Hotel) and I assure you that, especially on weekends.
One day in San Diego:
Here is a perfect itinerary to see the best of San Diego in just one day.
Of course, you will not be able to enter any museum and you will have to run a little but, with this path, you will be able to see as much of the city as possible.
Balboa Park:
Start your visit with the green lung of the city, Balboa Park.
After parking your car (you may struggle to find parking during the weekend), take a walk along the main street and then take the free train that will allow you to get a rough idea of the park without wasting too much time.
Lungomare and Seaport Village:
Get in your car and park near the Convention Center, one of the convention centers with one of the best views in the world.
The famous San Diego Comic-Con is held here every year and the structure is very unique and beautiful to look at.
From the parking lot, follow the signs to Seaport Village, a quaint shopping and restaurant complex that overlooks San Diego Bay.
Do you feel your stomach rumbling? It should be lunchtime by now.
I recommend you do it right at the Seaport Village, choosing from luxury restaurants or a simple hot dog with fries in the characteristic square.
From here, continue on to the Unconditional Surrender statue, right next to the USS Midway aircraft carrier museum. For Visa Related Queries Consult here
Take the usual photos by replicating the statue and then continue the walk a few hundred meters without visiting the aircraft carrier (you don’t have the time!).
Go back and get back to your car, it’s time to go to Coronado !!
Ps: if you don’t sleep in the city and you see that it’s early, go and have a look at Petco Park and Gaslamp, respectively the baseball stadium and the coolest neighborhood in the city.
Coronado Peninsula:
Once back in your car, head to the Coronado Bridge and cross it.
You will be catapulted into a city within a city, with low villas, manicured lawns and a magical atmosphere.
Cross the entire peninsula until you look out over the Pacific Ocean.
Find a parking space and go for a walk on the beach, visiting the Coronado hotel, the one in the movie “Some Like It Hot” with Marylin Monroe. Here are some tips to get Travel Trailer
Enjoy the nice atmosphere and relax listening to the sound of the sea.
You did? Get back in your car and retrace your steps, heading towards the bridge.
Before walking again there is another thing to do, see the skyline of the city from the San Diego skyline viewpoint.
It is now late afternoon and, if you are coming from Los Angeles, it’s time to go back.
If, on the other hand, you sleep in the city and leave the next morning.
San Diego in two days, what to see and how to structure the visit
I spent two nights in San Diego and it wasn’t enough to see everything.
However, I believe that two days are an excellent compromise to be able to see at least the main things, getting a pretty good idea of the city.
