Roadies Revolution Winner

What most people don’t realize is, Roadies is not about Raghu, Rajiv and Ran Vijay . It’s about the contestants and the stuff they do.

The Rant Modern India has its own version of Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud. It’s not a dangerous method . Hindi remake , its the reality show Roadies Revolution Winner . Well this could mean catarrh-sis. to psychology, but it’s an mind-fuck.

Raghu as well as Rajiv may be the dream come true to researchers like Dr. Joseph Mengele’s twin studies, and the possibility of having his corpus callosum changed to corpus cavernous in the same timeframe like it is what we in India have been doing for the last eight years.

What’s the attraction?

I believe it’s the masochist and sadist within every one of us that makes us return to the far-off horizon and observe people trying to slash their minds by committing a series of abuses only referring to female genitalia. Well it’s all or nothing, isn’t it?

This brings us to that catamite part. Who is the passive participant in this? The contestants who are willing to become into guinea-pigs for the fictitious autocratic mind fuck that twins alopecia forced us to endure? Perhaps however, there is also the “Army man” the extremely accomplished Ran Vijay .??? He claims he is following his passions in life, but then goes to the ‘army join Karo’ nonsense.

I’m thinking that the Indian army could borrow one of the history books and apply the uncle Sam is in need of posters by substituting his face by the highly well-received Ran Vijay face..

In my opinion this show is utterly absurd.

It’s catering to the voyeuristic desires of the audience. The percentage of television viewers who enjoy this kind of voyeuristic portrayal is hard to assess because very few viewers will open up about the fact that they love watching other people being laughed at or bullied, snubbed and put in situations that make them feel stupid to them, and so on.

In the past, I believed I was watching (not frequently, but difficult to miss due to the numerous repeats of episodes that air weekly) it due to it being boring to the point of being hilarious. However, humor that is repeated is boring, but the show was just getting more addicting.

I am now convinced that there’s no reason in debating the fact that this is a absurd display of inane argument, ridicule and being bullied by those who are likely to be more ignorant, and everyone gets a bit excited and charged up even as all the stupidity is happening, (phew )…is quite intriguing. Sometimes, I find myself having fun watching the antics, other times I’m tearing my hair out in anger, and sometimes I feel sad (rarely but it happens) Sometimes, I’m tempted to cheer on an individual I like in the program (even much less frequently I do this) and then ecstatic when they win. There are often interesting backgrounds of the contestants that I can glimpse a bit of me in, or observe them mirroring someone I know intimately. The whole thing stirs up emotions and guess what is that stimulates the emotions that we are able to call entertainment.

In the end of the day when you view it from the perspective of entertainment, you should not purchase any of the?

“this is roadies, this is the way of life marketing gimmicks and then forget about it after the ad-filled hour has ended, your life will return to the way it was prior to when the hour even began and you’ll see that the time you spent watching roadies was more beneficial instead of other activities like following people on Facebook or answering Quora questions anonymously. For me, roadies isn’t a terribly accurate portrayal of Indian youth. However, could be considered ignorant, but it isn’t the most accurate and naïve.

There has been a lot discussed about the show here and I’m inclined to be in agreement with the majority of what’s been stated. But I wanted to point an alternative view of the show. I am a Design Researcher. as part of my work during the month of June 2010 I spent the month of June in Lucknow conducting interviews to study how people use media and technology in the middle class household. I was speaking with one single mother of two children. Her older son was enrolled in engineering at one of our local engineering schools and her daughter was in high school.

In during the conversation, she stated that her favorite TV series is MTV Roadies. Every night, all three of them sit on the television to go to the show. They loved the drama and felt connected with the other participants. The thrill and adventure made people glued to the program.

She stated that she was hoping her son would be able to take part in the auditions and be a part of the show. This show represented her hopes to break free of limitations of the middle class and represented achieving fame and recognition.
