Solution 1. Change hosting settings

  1. Start QuickBooks on the workstation where you receive QuickBooks error message H505.
  2. Select the File menu instead of opening the company file and then choose Utilities.
  3. Select the Stop Hosting Multi-User Access option if it is visible. Else go to other workstations.
  4. There also, select the Hosting Multi-User Access option.
  5. After repeating the same procedure on all workstations, go to the server computer.
  6. Open QuickBooks and choose the File tab.
  7. Select the Utilities option and select the Host Multi-User Access option.

Solution 2. Run Server Manager on the host computer to rectify multi-user issues

Download and install QuickBooks Tool Hub on your server computer using the steps given below and then run QuickBooks Database Server Manager:

  1. Exit company files and then quit QuickBooks.

  3. Save the QuickBooks Tool Hub setup file to the Downloads folder so you can easily access it.
