WHAT BEDDING TO CHOOSE FOR THIS SUMMER?

Summer is just around the corner, and its night heat can be a real problem for your rest. Choosing to bed adapted to the year’s season is the best way to sleep peacefully. Do not move; we will tell you what materials to choose so that your nights are always pleasant!

What materials should we privilege?

Cotton percale

Soft and resistant, the cotton percale has a weave of 80 threads/cm², and its long fibres have antiperspirant properties. This material will give you a feeling of freshness throughout the night. Its dense fabric guarantees great comfort and a soft touch that is very pleasant for your skin.

Washed linen

Light and natural, washed linen wicks away moisture and helps keep us cool in summer. It is very resistant and soft to the touch, which helps prevent it from deforming during washing. Its deliberately wrinkled appearance makes ironing unnecessary. Another great advantage for allergy sufferers is that its antibacterial texture is perfectly adapted to sensitive skin.

Cotton gauze

Its fine cotton fibres with a loose weave make it breathable, airy, soft and thermoregulating. You can cover yourself without getting hot during the night. Naturally wrinkled just like linen, cotton voile is non-iron and dries quickly. Its slightly embossed appearance adds a touch of charm to the room.

Cotton satin

Cotton satin, also known as cotton satin, has a silky texture on the front and a matte finish on the reverse, thanks to a weave of at least 100 threads/cm². This weaving technique makes the fabric supple and incredibly soft. Another advantage of this material is that it is breathable, ensuring good body temperature regulation in summer.

What materials should we avoid?

Synthetic materials

Synthetic materials should be avoided during the summer. Although it’s pretty and often doesn’t wrinkle, polyester has several drawbacks. It retains odors, increases sweating and causes overheating inside the bed. In addition, the quality of polyester is inferior to cotton since it contains chemical agents.

Cotton flannel

Flannel is characterized by its fluffy and plush appearance. The cotton has been crushed to make it more insulating. Flannel is the material to be favoured during the winter but is to be avoided in summer because it is sweltering. However, it is very soft to the touch and very comfortable to rest on.

What type of bedding should I choose?

The top sheet

The top sheet is an excellent alternative to the duvet cover in summer. It is light, does not get too hot and, at the same time, provides the comfort you need, making your nights more remarkable. Since the flat sheet is in direct contact with the skin, choosing a material that absorbs moisture well, such as cotton or linen, is better. Choose the same material as the crushed velvet double duvet cover and the fitted sheet to guarantee an excellent deep rest.

The light Norse

We recommend you use it during the summer season. The light Nordic filling is perfect for rest, especially for heat-sensitive people. Its weight ranges from 180 g/m² to 200 g/m². Remember that the 4-season duvet is still useful during the summer. This model is particularly ingenious as it consists of 2 duvets joined by a fastening system: a light duvet for summer and a warmer duvet for halftime. United, they form a perfectly insulating quilt for winter.

What colours should be used?

There is nothing like pastel colours to bring joy to your decoration! Colours like sage green, pale pink or lavender will bring freshness to your home. Colours inspired by nature, such as khaki green, ocher or terracotta, allow you to create authentic decorations. Summer is also the time to dare with pop and dynamic colours like navy blue or raspberry pink.

A very stylish bed, even during the summer

The quilt is the decorative accessory par excellence, bringing personality to your bedroom. If in winter, it is usually placed on a single velvet duvet cover. In summer, it can be placed directly on the top sheet. During this time, avoid warm materials, such as velvet, and opt for a light bedspread that allows air circulation and allows your skin to breathe. Place a colourful cotton blanket at the foot of the bed to decorate it, add some natural cushions to give it a cheerful touch, and that’s it!

The always essential bed protectors

Mattresses, duvet covers, pillows and cushions are put to the test when it comes to absorbing sweat and moisture from the body. The mattress protector is designed to improve the comfort of the bed. Breathable, it guarantees a feeling of freshness throughout the night. The waterproof model made of cotton and a polyester coating will always keep your mattress dry. Another essential item that should be considered is the pillow protector. This accessory will protect your pillows by acting as a barrier against perspiration.

We all dream of making our bedroom a cosy place. This is logical since we spend almost a third of our lives in bed! So, before falling into the arms of Morpheus, we suggest some ideas to choose your duvet cover correctly.
