Sage 50 Accounts PRO, Plus and Professional

The entry-level to the Sage 50 Accounts range, does everything you would expect from simple accounting software and can be used by 2 people at the same time, although there is an additional cost for having 2 users. This is clearly the most popular software for doing accounts in the smaller business, simple to use and with wizards to help you set the software up initially it’s great for both experienced accountants and the less experienced bookkeeper too.

Sage 50 Accounts Plus

This is the middle product in the range and introduces some additional key functionality, the most significant of these being the project costing module, although quite simple, it is very helpful for companies who need to allocate costs to a specific project. The main limitation of this product is that you can still only have 2 users on there, so if you need more, you will need to look at Accounts Professional instead.

This is probably the least common of the three products, as most people seem to start off with Accounts, then upgrade straight to professional, while if you are changing software altogether it’s common to jump straight in at the professional level. That being said, if you need the features listed, but no more, this would work out to be the best value for money.

Sage 50 Accounts Professional is available for a maximum of 10 users, you can have more user accounts set up, but this is the number who can access your accounts data all at the same time.

Sage 50 Accounts Professional does more than just manage your day-to-day finances, including VAT returns and year-end accounts. It also provides complete sales and purchases order processing, alongside stock control, project management, and foreign trading tools, so you can keep track of different areas of your business. Sage 50 Accounts Professional gives you the information you need to drive your business forward.

This is the ideal product for a growing business that doesn’t yet want to move to a larger product such as 200.  In fact, although 200 is by rights a better product, we are glad the SQL version of 50 is on its way, as this will give companies the option to remain on Sage 50 if it suits their business, but they have outgrown the existing user or transaction limits.
