  2. Now locate the QBPOS Shell process and right-click it.
  3. Choose the End Task option and confirm the action by pressing Yes.
  4. Now go to the Windows File Explorer by pressing the Windows + E keys and click the View tab.
  5. Put a checkmark next to the Hidden Items checkbox and navigate to the C:\Users\{User logged on}\AppData\Local\Intuit folder.
  6. Open the QBPOS folder, right-click the file named user.config, and select the Rename option.
  7. Add old at the end of the file name and save it.
  8. Check if this resolves the POS error.

Solution 2: Use a New Admin Account to Access QuickBooks POS

  1. Go to the settings of your system and move to the Accounts settings.
  2. Choose the Family & other users (Other users) option and click Add someone else to this PC.
  3. Select the I don’t have this person’s sign-in information option on the next screen and hit the Add a user without a Microsoft account option.
  4. Choose a username and password for the new account and click Next.
  5. Go back to the Account settings once again and choose the Family & other users (Other users) option.
  6. Click the name of the user account you have just created and select Change account type.
  7. Choose Administrator for the account type and click OK to save the changes.
  8. Sign in with this newly created admin account and check if this resolves the error.
